KATE KATO | PAPER ARTIST
Creating Nature Inspired Sculpture

As a contemporary paper artist, I create intricate paper sculptures from reclaimed paper inspired by plants, fungi and insects. Through original artwork, bespoke commissions and immersive installations, I invite people to slow down, look closely and reconnect with the natural world through the beauty of its often-overlooked species.

COMMISSION

Create a bespoke artwork inspired by a meaningful place, a treasured species or a story you'd like to preserve. Every commission begins with a conversation and is thoughtfully designed to reflect your own connection with the natural world.

"They are absolutely stunningly beautiful. Love their size, their layout, their colouring everything about them. They’re now laid on a large table in my bedroom. I smile at them every day."

- PA

Nature is full of quiet stories.....

A favourite wildflower growing beside a childhood path. The insects that return to the same garden each summer. A landscape that shapes memories across generations. These often-overlooked connections inspire everything I make.

From my studio on the Welsh borders, I transform discarded botanical books, old maps and reclaimed papers into life-sized paper sculptures. The marks already held within the paper become part of each artwork, bringing together fragments of human history with the living world they now represent.

Every sculpture begins with careful observation, research and a deep appreciation for the intricate ecosystems that surround us. Whether creating an original paper sculpture, a bespoke commission or an immersive installation, my work celebrates the remarkable relationships between people, place and nature, encouraging others to discover the wonder hidden in the smallest details.
